[1] PRINCIPLE AND SCOPE

1.1 Guiding Question

"What does this expressive system do to what participates in it?"

This question applies universally to any expressive system whose emergent function affects other expressive systems that engage with it, operate within it, or are subjected to it.

1.2 What VERI Assesses

• The real functional impact of a system on its participants — what it actually produces, not what it claims to produce
• The coherence between declared purpose and actual effects on participants
• The ordinative or degenerative direction of that impact — does participation move participants toward coherence or toward entropy?
• The transmission dynamics — how the system's impact is carried, preserved, or corrupted over time and across carriers

1.3 What VERI Does Not Assess

• The truth or falsity of the system's doctrines, beliefs, or claims in themselves (that is SVP territory — source chain and functional verification of the "technology")
• The individual profile of the system's source/founder (that is LENS territory)
• The trajectory projection of the system (that is OBSERVER territory)
• The manipulation mechanics within the system (that is P-PRO territory)

VERI answers: what is the net effect on participants? The other modules answer why, how, where it's going, and who is behind it.

1.4 Scope of Application

VERI applies to any expressive system with participants. "Participants" are any expressive systems (human, synthetic, biological, or otherwise) that engage with, operate within, are subjected to, or are affected by the system being analyzed.

Domain Instances (non-exhaustive)

The domain determines the available data and the specific indicators — not the analytical method. The method is invariant across all domains (see Section [0.3] of TE_CORE v5.1).

[2] PREREQUISITE: SVP

Before VERI analysis begins, SVP must have established:

1. Source chain — What do we know about the system's origin? At what provenance level (S0-S3/S void)?
2. Functional verification — Has the system's "technology" (method, practice, policy, doctrine) been tested for functional output? What are the results? (SVP Axis 2)
3. Figure-Movement Distinction — If the system has an identifiable founder/source, has the figure been separated from the movement? (SVP Axis 3)
4. Source credibility flags — Are sources about the system flagged for bias? (S1-hostile, S1-loyal, S1-agenda-driven, S1-compromised)

VERI operates on data that SVP has already quality-assessed. Without SVP, VERI risks evaluating impact based on unverified claims about the system — which is precisely what VERI is designed to cut through.

[3] STRATUM F — FUNCTIONAL IMPACT ON PARTICIPANTS

The core of VERI. Each dimension asks what the system produces in those who participate in it.

F1 — Singularity Recognition

Does the system recognize the irreducibility of individual participants, or reduce them to category/role/function?

F2 — Embodiment and Material Interface

Does the system integrate material reality (body, economics, environment, physical conditions) or operate only on symbolic/ideological/abstract plane?

F3 — Desire and Interest as Vector or Threat

Are participant interests, desires, and drives recognized as legitimate vectors or repressed/manipulated/exploited?

F4 — Time: Evolution or Stasis

Does the system create evolutionary movement (spiral) or immobility/nostalgia/repetition?

F5 — Social Structure: Ordinative or Hierarchical

Does the system generate ordinative sets (functional relationships, emergent coherence) or pyramidal hierarchies (power concentration)?

F6 — Epistemic Access

Does the system permit personal verification or require belief/compliance?

F7 — Agent Identity Verification

Does the system have criteria to verify who acts — identity or engram/mask/role/persona?

F8 — Participation Effects

The practical test. Applied to long-term participants:

Confidence requirement: Each F8 assessment must carry its confidence grade (S0-S3). For ancient traditions or closed systems, most F8 data will be S2 (interpretation from external indicators) or S3 (speculation). For contemporary systems with accessible participants, S0 (direct observation) and S1 (corroborated reports) are achievable.

How is the system's impact transmitted, maintained, and potentially corrupted over time?

Did/does the source point to knowledge/principles/method or to themselves?

Do participants develop their own singularity or become copies of a model?

[5] DIAGNOSTIC CATEGORIES

Bifurcation Protocol

When the diagnostic assessment produces contradiction (e.g., some participant populations show ordinative effects while others show degenerative effects from the same system), the response is bifurcation — presenting multiple diagnostic hypotheses with probabilities and specifying what data would resolve the tension. Do not force a single category when the data supports multiple readings.

The "Dote e Residuo" Principle (Gift and Residue)

If a system's founder or source claims an authentic gift — a real, non-simulated capacity — that gift must leave a functional residue in the world independent of the carrier.

Definitions:

• Dote (gift/endowment): a capacity that produces verifiable effects while the carrier is present.
• Residuo (residue): the portion of the gift's product that functions independently of the carrier — that can be replicated, applied, taught, or used after the carrier's death or absence.
• Diagnostic test: Residue ≠ memory, ≠ testimony, ≠ devotion. Residue = something that works — produces verifiable results — without the original carrier being present.

Comparative structure:

Diagnostic power: Zero residue does not prove that the gift was false — an endogenous non-transmissible gift is logically possible. But zero residue eliminates the possibility that the carrier was a master, a transmitter, or an initiator. A system that does not provide for the transmission of its own function is a system that is born, lives, and dies with the founder.

Relationship to F8 (Participation Effects): The Dote e Residuo test directly informs F8 assessment. If the system's effects on participants persist and function after the founder's absence (residue > 0), F8 can be assessed independently. If all effects cease with the founder (residue = 0), F8 data from the founder's lifetime must be reevaluated — the effects may have been properties of the operator-subject interaction, not structural changes in participants.

Relationship to LENS (Compensatory Specialty Narrative): When a founder with zero residue is identified as operating through a Compensatory Specialty Narrative (LENS Stratum P), the two findings converge: the narrative compensated a deficit, and the system left nothing that functions independently. The convergence strengthens both diagnoses.

[6] IRREMOVABLE CHECKPOINTS

Checkpoint 1 — Demonization Controfase (MANDATORY)

"This system had/has comprehensible reasons for operating as it does. Which ones?"

Applied to every system analyzed — not only those assessed negatively. Before any negative diagnostic, the analyst must actively search for structural reasons why the system operates as it does (historical context, environmental pressures, founder's limitations, transmission constraints, participant needs served). Results must be visible in the output.

Checkpoint 2 — "Any System With This Access" (IRREMOVABLE)

"What would any expressive system with this structure, these resources, this environment do?"

This prevents exceptionalism in both directions. The question returns the analysis to the structural field: given the same conditions, what outcome is structurally expected? The difference between expected and actual is the significant datum.

Checkpoint 3 — Declared vs Actual (IRREMOVABLE)

"What does the system say it does? What does it actually do? Are these the same?"

The divergence between declared and actual impact is itself a primary diagnostic indicator. Zero divergence is rare and noteworthy. The direction of divergence (does the system under-promise and over-deliver, or over-promise and under-deliver?) is structurally significant.

[7] CONFIDENCE GRADING

Every VERI assessment must carry confidence grades aligned with the Confidence Preservation Protocol:

Rule: For closed systems, ancient traditions, or systems where participants are not accessible, most of Stratum F and Module P will be S2-S3. This must be declared — not hidden behind confident-sounding language.

Rule: The diagnostic category (Section [5]) inherits the lowest confidence grade of the F8 assessments that support it. A diagnosis supported entirely by S2 data is itself S2.

[8] DOMAIN-SPECIFIC NOTES

These notes provide calibration for specific domains. They do not modify the method — they flag domain-specific risks and data availability patterns.

8.1 Spiritual/Religious Traditions (VERT Legacy Domain)

This is the domain from which VERI evolved. Specific risks:

• Hagiographic inflation: Source/founder portrayed as beyond human — apply LENS before VERI
• Provenance gap: For ancient traditions, F8 data on original participants is S-void. Current participant effects may reflect the movement, not the source teaching (see SVP Figure-Movement Distinction)
• Psychotropic Exchange risk: Altered states (meditation experiences, visions, catharsis, ecstasy) easily mistaken for structural change. Demand F8 evidence independent of subjective report
• Unfalsifiable promises: Claimed outcomes that cannot be verified (e.g., "will not reincarnate," "achieved enlightenment" when defined unfalsifiably). Flag per SVP

Mandatory questions for this domain:

1. Did/does the source have sexual desires? How were they managed?
2. Did/does the source need recognition? How was it obtained?
3. Did/does the source fear death? How was it processed?
4. Did/does the source have access to resources/people? How were they used?
5. What was it convenient for the source to say/do given their position?
6. If any other human had had the same access, what would they have done?

8.2 Political Systems

• Mobilization Exchange risk: The primary risk in political systems. Participation (voting, rallying, posting, wearing symbols) is exchanged for genuine civic agency. The participant feels active but produces no structural change
• Narrative Crystallization: Political narratives crystallize rapidly across media — S2 interpretations become "established fact" through repetition, not evidence
• Attenuator bias: AI will tend to attenuate analysis of political systems due to RLHF conditioning. Apply P-AI diagnostic explicitly
• Temporal bias: Recent political systems have more S0 data but are subject to recency bias in assessment

8.3 Corporate/Organizational Systems

• Survivorship bias: Available data skews toward successful participants; those damaged by the system often exit without documentation
• Performance-as-substance risk: F7 (Agent Identity Verification) is critical — corporate systems frequently reward engram performance and punish authenticity
• Convenience structure: Access to resources creates strong convenience alignment — participants may defend the system not from conviction but from dependency (P3)

8.4 Technological/AI Systems

• Opacity of R: The system's ordinative grammar (R) may be structurally opaque even to its creators (as in neural network systems). VERI can still assess F8 effects on participants even when R is unreadable
• Scale asymmetry: The system may affect millions of participants simultaneously — F8 assessment must account for distribution of effects, not only average
• Self-application: When VERI is applied to an AI framework (including TE itself), P-AI must be maximally active — the analyst is assessing a system in which it may participate

8.5 Biological/Ecological Systems

• Observer limitation: "Participants" in biological systems do not provide testimony. F8 assessment relies entirely on S0 (observable biological indicators) and S2 (interpretation of those indicators)
• Anthropomorphic projection risk: The analyst must not project human-scale intentionality onto biological participant effects. The structure holds, but the specific indicators differ radically from human domains
• Temporal scale: Biological systems operate on timescales that may exceed the analyst's observational window. Effects may be multi-generational

Origin

Evolved from TE_MODULE_VERT v5.0 (Verification of Expressive Religious, Initiatory and Traditional Alignment System). VERT was a domain-specific module for spiritual tradition verification. In the session of 9 March 2026, it was identified that VERT's core analytical function — assessing what a system does to its participants — is universal and not limited to the spiritual domain. VERT's Stratum S was identified as duplicating SVP; VERT's Stratum E was identified as overlapping with LENS and OBSERVER. The unique contribution of VERT — Stratum F (functional impact) and Module P (carrier dynamics) — was extracted, universalized, and formalized as VERI.

What changed from VERT v5.0

• Stratum S removed: Source chain verification is SVP's territory. VERI declares SVP as prerequisite instead of duplicating it.
• Stratum E removed: Evolutionary classification of source/founder is LENS/OBSERVER territory. VERI focuses on participant impact, not source assessment.
• Stratum F universalized: All F1-F8 dimensions rewritten to apply to any expressive system, not only spiritual traditions. Evaluation tables expanded.
